2016年即将过去，这一年，网络又涌现了不少表情包和流行语，外媒对这些新鲜的事物也是十分关注。

 

 

大家还记得傅园慧吧？里约奥运赛场的一股清流席卷了整个互联网，让这个杭州姑娘一夜成名。她的经典语录“洪荒之力”也瞬间成为爆红网络的新名词。

 

When asked how she won her race at this year’s Olympics in Rio, Fu Yuanhui responded that she used all of her inner strength and “primeval power.” The term, together with her adorable facial expressions, made for instant memery.

里约奥运会上，记者采访傅园慧，问她是怎样赢下比赛的。她说，她已经发挥了全力，并且用上了“洪荒之力”。这个词，和她那可爱的表情一起，瞬间成为了表情包。

 

这个词还有别的翻译方式，如primordial power，mystic energy，prehistorical powers，genesis powers等，总之并没有一种标准的翻译方式。使用时，只需搭配合适的面部表情，以上这些用法均可以达到理想效果。

本词发源于一次公路采访，当记者采访一个老伯时，老伯回答“什么都不知道，只是在路边吃西瓜”。此后经网友推广而红遍网络。

 

“Watermelon eaters” refers a big crowd of passive onlookers. Similar in meaning to lurker, watermelon eaters usually refers to people on social media who do not actually contribute anything. 

“吃瓜群众”指为数众多的消极旁观者。本词与“潜水者”相似，通常指社交媒体上没有实际贡献的人们。

 

As with any good meme, this has evolved into chicken eaters and pancake eaters, referring people who lurk, but don’t really pay attention.

与那些好玩的表情类似，本词也发展成了“吃鸡群众”“吃饼群众”等，指那些潜水而又没有真正关注某事的人。

 

其它译法如watermelon-eating spectators, melon-eating masses, onlookers也指相同的意思，“不明真相的吃瓜群众”可以译为onlookers who are unaware of the facts或the public who are kept in the dark。

And, like any public figure making an embarrassing gaffe, the quote quickly became meme fodder with one-liners.

The phrase mocks how easy it is for a cyber friendship to fall out. Any tiny trigger can lead to a broken friendship, from taking a bad selfie of your friend to losing weight when they cannot.

Originally from a China’s popular TV show I Love My Family（《我爱我家》）, the decades-old photo of the Chinese comedian Ge You slouching has spawned a wave of humorous reinterpretations and imitations online. As the representative sitting position of Beijingers, it is also dubbed the Beijing Slouch.

This all originate to a young man from Nanning who uploaded a video clip online to express his sad feelings on a bad date he had earlier that day. He repeatedly murmured how bad he feels at the moment and wants to cry in local dialect. And he continued to ask why it.

But to the opposite, you just can't stop laughing after watching it because it does sound like he's kept saying "skinny blue mushroom".

不过，skinny blue mushroom这个直译大概没多少人能听懂，所以再提供一些意译的方案：
